Sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass and muscle function in (often weight stable) cancer patients, is a symptom that is highly prevalent and prognostic for clinical outcomes, also in patients with overweight.

This lecture will discuss different measures to assess patients’ nutritional status, including CT scans to assess muscle mass. In addition, an overview will be given of the literature regarding the prognostic impact of low muscle mass. Finally, interventions to influence muscle mass will be addressed, including nutrition and a multimodal approach.
