Rajesh Thomas
Dr. Rajesh Thomas is a Respiratory Medicine Consultant and clinical lead for Lung Cancer and Pleural services at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth. Dr. Thomas’ PhD research has systematically defined the benefits of indwelling pleural catheter (IPC) use, a novel pleural intervention in malignant pleural effusion management. He was the lead author of the Australasian Malignant Pleural Effusion (AMPLE) trial, an international, multi-center, randomised trial comparing IPC versus conventional talc pleurodesis (published in JAMA, 2017). His post-doctoral research on optimising malignant pleural effusion management is supported by the NH&MRC and Cancer Council WA Early Career Fellowship.
