Chris Hemmings

Chris Hemmings is a surgical pathologist with subspecialty interests in gastrointestinal pathology and rare cancers including neuroendocrine tumours, sarcoma and GIST. She is Clinical Director of Anatomic Pathology at Canterbury Health Laboratories in Christchurch and Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Otago Medical School (NZ). Chris previously represented the RCPA on the COSA Council and the Clinical Advisory Group to the Australian National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, before returning to her native New Zealand in January 2018. She is currently serving her second term on the RCPA’s Cancer Services Advisory Committee and recently took over as Clinical Lead of the National Structured Reporting of Cancer Project in Australasia, and Chair of the Dataset Steering Committee of the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting (ICCR). In her spare time, she recently completed a PhD studying treatment response in rectal cancer.
